Available apps¶
These apps require sensors like accelerometers and gyroscopes to estimate the number of steps taken. The purpose of tracking steps is not necessary to achieve precise measurements, but rather to motivate and promote regular physical activity and progress towards fitness goals. Both pedometer apps and wearables can be useful tools for this purpose1.
There are many pedometer apps and step counter apps for Android, here we describe some of them2:
Google Fit is a free pedometer app developed by Google that works with most Android phones. It uses your phone’s built-in sensors to track your steps, distance travelled, and calories burned. It also integrates with other fitness apps, such as Strava and MyFitnessPal, and can track activities like running, cycling, and swimming.
Pacer is a free pedometer app that works with both Android and iOS devices. It tracks your steps, distance, and calories burned and allows you to set daily step goals and see your progress over time. It also offers additional features, such as the ability to track your weight, food intake, and sleep quality.
StepsApp has a unique interface that you can customize to one of six fun colors. On iPhones, you can swipe on your home and lock screen to view the app's widget — it conveniently shows you how many steps you've logged at a glance. Plus, people who use wheelchairs can use this step counter app as long as they have an Apple Watch.
We rely on these applications to make our interface appealing to a wide audience and complying with the current trends regarding UI/UX design with hopes of, alongside our sleek design and useful and efficient features, creating a full-fledged application to track every fitness related metric desired.
